Gratitude Focus: I’m Grateful For The Capacity To Refresh Relationships

Written by Orvin Kimbrough | June 03, 2026

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

I’m grateful for the capacity to refresh relationships and for the unexpected joy that comes from saying “yes” to something new. Yesterday, I attended the 39th birthday celebration of someone I’ve only recently met. This isn’t something I would typically do, but I’m glad I accepted the invitation.

I’m in a season of growth, and sometimes growth requires us to stretch. To put in place new connections. To think new thoughts. To do new things. While I didn’t shut the night down with them, I enjoyed having different conversations with new people, stepping outside of the familiar, and allowing myself to experience connection in a new way. It reminded me that refreshment doesn’t always come from the places we expect. Sometimes, it shows up through our willingness to lean into the unfamiliar and be open.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
— Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)

Growth often begins when we step outside our patterns and say yes to what’s unfolding.
