Why I’m grateful this morning I woke up at 4:30 and just lay there until about five. My mind was full—thinking about the year, reflecting on what was lost and what was gained. And more than anything, I found myself grateful to still be here.
I’m grateful for our life.
It was January of this year when my brother died. Since then, we’ve also lost my wife’s cousin—only 50 years old. My brother didn’t even make it to 50. Those numbers sit with you. They change the way you measure time.
So today, I’m grateful for life. I’m grateful just to be writing this post. I’m grateful for peace—peace of mind and peace in my heart. Not because everything has been easy, but because somehow, in the midst of loss, peace has still found a place to rest.
