Gratitude Focus: Today I’m Grateful For The Tension That Comes With Building Something Significant

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

Whenever you’re trying to create anything meaningful, tension shows up. It’s unavoidable. You hold the vision, and everyone around you holds a perspective about that vision — but they don’t sit with it daily the way you do. When you’re the founder, you live inside the details. You think about everything until the idea grows big enough that you can focus only on what truly creates value.

Right now, as I build this course, I’m touching every part of the value chain — not because I want to, but because I have to. The systems, the sequencing, the infrastructure, the email addresses that will triage support, service and sales — it all matters. I’m constantly looking ahead, anticipating where unnecessary drama could show up if I don’t prepare now.

Even something as simple as a support inbox matters. You can’t have only one person with access. You need layers — a primary responder, secondary and tertiary backups. Those nuances don’t occur to you unless you’ve run something with real stakes. But when you’re leading, when you’re trying to build something that must endure, you learn to welcome multiple eyes, thoughtful checks, and a proven process.

The tension is not a sign something is wrong — it’s a sign something important is being built.

“And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” — James 1:4
